"I've been working with Karissa as a nutritional client for over one and a half years now at the suggestion of my personal trainer. Karissa is not the first nutritionist I sought advice from, but she's been the only one I've wanted to stick with over and over again. My health journey might be similar to that of many other's. I grew up with Italian roots, which meant lots of pasta night dinners and constant family gatherings surrounding food. For years I had tried to lose weight, but never got it to really stick. Heading into my senior year of college, my dad suffered a stroke, resulting from undiagnosed type 2 diabetes. I'll never forget being told by one of his doctor's that I should now consider myself "pre-diabetic." It shook me to my core.


After college graduation, I decided to make a lifestyle change. I didn't want to end up with severe health problems like my dad. I hired a trainer and a nutrionist, and I finally began seeing results. I was able to lose 40 pounds in eight months, and I did it in a healthy way, or so I thought. My trainer began to notice I was feeling lightheaded during my weight training. He came to realize I was sometimes eating less than 1000 calories/day, and barely 100g of carbohydrates/day. When he told me to add more carbs into my diet, I freaked out. How could I add back in the things that made me gain weight in the first place? That's when he suggested working with Karissa. He told me her approach to nutrition was different, and he thought we would vibe well.


Flash forward about 18 months later, and I am a dedicated Karissa client/follower/friend. From our very first meeting, she allowed me to open up about my personal story. She focused on working out the mental stigmas I had associated with food and eating, as well as helping me learn what choices I could make that worked for MY LIFE. Perhaps the biggest thing I've learned during our time together is how personal each person's nutritional journey is. What works for me may not work for others, and vice versa. I'm currently eating more than I ever have before, packing my days with nutritionally dense foods that I genuinely enjoy and look forward to eating. Sure, I have my days of overindulgence, but I no longer feel guilty about them. If you're serious about maintaining a healthy lifestyle, you need to find a way to make it sustainable for your life. I like to think of Karissa as my food therapist, and I'm so grateful for her gift. She helped me mend my personal relationship with eating, and I didn't have to eat a single salad to do it!"


"At the age of 27 I can honestly say that I haven’t been a confident person for most of my life. I was very shy when I was young and certain things happened as I got older that dampened my glow even more. I had an incident with a bad trainer that pretty much ruined any drive to work out that I could’ve possibly had. For about 3 years I had been lost in the gym and within myself. I lost my smile, my laughter and pretty much everything that made me, me. I had reached an all-time low in my life that I never thought I could come out of. A friend of mine suggested that I call Karissa and see if she would be willing to train me. With nothing else to lose and pretty much nowhere to go but up, I decided that, that was the best option for me. To fix not only my health but my internal view of me as well.

I filled out her questionnaire and emailed it to her. In just a few short minutes she got back to me. We talked on the phone about my issues and she was able to make me feel better just by the calming sound of her voice. That alone was enough for me to hire her. After a lot of discussion she sent me a fully detailed and thorough program. It was extremely impressive and comforting to know that she took the time to write all of that out in words that I was able to understand. COMFORT was the number one foundation of this entire process and that was what I loved the most about it.

After meeting with her and working out with her, I realized that my body was so much stronger than I thought it was. I found myself WANTING to do heavier weights because slowly I began trusting myself more and more. The main thing that she taught, which I have never learned, was proper form. FORM OVER REPS. She told me ways to visualize myself doing the weight before I did it.


After 2 and a half months with her, I can honestly say that I’ve never felt better. My body is in the best shape that I have seen it in a very long time. I find myself CONSTANTLY checking myself out in the mirror. I smile more; I laugh more, and most of all I’ve finally found the Laura that has been hiding for all these years. She changed my ENTIRE life around. I’ve never been so happy and confident in my life. Words cannot express all of the emotions that I have felt on this journey. It isn’t always easy and sometimes you don’t get the results that you want right away. Karissa has ALWAYS gone out of her way to make me feel at ease and patient with my progress. I have never felt more comfortable with a trainer in my life. She’s not only a Personal Trainer…she’s my Life Coach as well. She gives me advice and makes me feel better when I have an issue. She is hands down the most inspiring woman that I have ever met in my life. My family has even seen a drastic change in my confidence and I owe it entirely to her. Anyone that asks me how I did It, I just show them her page and say “She changed my life.”

"Working with Karissa has been incredible. I had horrible experience with a previous coach in the past, who guided me so wrong, that when Karissa and I first started working together, we had to fix my metabolism before anything. The time she takes to work WITH you... is astounding. She listens, she's dependable... she's THERE. She will provide in-depth replies to every worry, concern, update, question, etc., versus some coaches who will give you a sentence you can barely work off of. To have someone who also works with you, not just on the physical aspect, but the self-love and mental aspect too has been something that I still can't thank her enough for.
